Well most of the time you have to learn the hard way. When I started off playing guitar, I wasted hundreds to thousands of dollars on low quality and cheap guitar products. I bought strings that broke after the first use, crappy guitars that didn’t stay in tune, guitar stands that fell apart without anyone touching them and overall wasted money on all the gimmicks and crap that didn’t help my guitar playing one bit. The GuitarMadeEZ shop will point you in the right direction.
The GuitarMadeEZ Shop has everything you need to get started. All these products are everything that I own, have used and will continue to use. This is the stuff that I’ve settled on after trying hundreds of different name brands, qualities, prices, etc. All these products are conviniently located on one page so that you don’t have to travel all around town to find them. You can stay home, continue to practice guitar meanwhile having these products sent to you. Enjoy
Starter Guitars
Don’t buy the $89.99 crap at Walmart, Toys R Us, or at Guitar Center. These Alvarez Guitars play better than my $800 Martin Guitar and are great beginner guitars. I own 2.
Guitar Humidifiers:
These are the two kinds that I personally own. I’ve tried others and they just don’t last as long. It’s a very simple device and some are built not very well. You need one of these to keep your guitar from becoming to dry. They are needed in some areas of the country more than others. If you live in a dry or hot environment, they are much needed. I live in Arizona.
Guitar Stands
Don’t be that person who thinks that you can get away with placing your guitar up against a wall at all times. IT WILL FALL! I have a few dents in my guitars from them falling when I lean them up against a wall for a short period of time. These stands are much needed and aren’t very much. I own 5 stands and 4 wall hangers.
Guitar Tuners
You can learn to tune by ear but before you can run, you must walk. You need these to tune your guitar and these will aid and teach you how to tune by ear. Don’t use the online tuners, sometimes the digital tones can be a little off I’ve noticed.
Guitar Picks
These are the types of picks I use. Rule Of Thumb: The thinner the pick, the slower the song, the thicker the pick, the faster the picking.
Guitar Chord Charts
These are great to post up behind your door. Spend some time learning new chords. These posters will force you to practice.
Acoustic Guitar Strings
This is key! I’ve wasted a ton of money on horrible strings until I found the best kind out there. Yes you pay a little bit more but it’s worth it. They sound amazing too!! Would you rather spend 20 x $3 sets of strings that break every week that need to be changed, or spend $15 bucks for 1 set that will sound better and last a full year? Buy quality… you’ll save in the long run.
Electric Guitar Strings
Only kind of electric guitar strings I use. I got sick of breaking strings every week. These are tough! and sound great! Little bit pricier than your average string though. You can thank me later
Guitar Metronome
You need this to learn how to play with a rythm and to play in time. If you don’t learn with one of these you won’t be able to keep a beat. Also, this tool is needed if you wanted to get your picking faster or be able to “shred”. Practice one speed then slightly increase.
Stop Watch
This is needed for your daily practice. If you red my ebook, you know exactly why. Don’t practice anything longer than 15-30 minutes. When you hit your limit on one exercise or lesson, move onto to something new. This keeps you from being “stuck” on something.
Guitar Capo
This makes your guitar sound higher by “creating a new neck”. If you place the capo on the fret, it allows you to play all your chords on that part of the neck, making them sound higher. This is required in order to play songs like “Here come’s the sun” or “Wonderwall”
Guitar Slide
This is worn around one of your fingers on your fretboard hand. This eliminates the steps/frets on the fretboard and makes all the frets kind of blend together. It’s fun to mess around with. This device was used in “Freebird” and “Layla.”
Guitar Effects Pedals
Make your guitar sound like the guitar used in your favorite song. These effects pedals are all I use with my amp to give me any artist’s tone that I want.
Starter Electric Guitars
There’s a ton of starter guitars out there. The Fender Squire is what I started out on. It’s a great electric guitar to learn on however if you think you’ll stick with guitar for a while, you’ll outgrow it fast. The biggest downside: the pickups in this guitar arent good. The quality of the tone just doesn’t sound very bright.
My Personal Favorite
(The Guitar I Use In My YouTube Videos)
It’s an Epiphone (Gibson’s low-end line) but I still love it. It’s my favorite guitar. Gold pickups, looks great and plays even better.
My guitar amp
It’s just a practice amp (doesn’t sound as nice as a tube amp) but it’s all that I need for what I’m doing. I wouldn’t recommend playing a show with it but I would definately use it to play around the house and show off in front of your friends.
