Major Barre Chord Shape
"What is a Guitar Chord Shape?" and "What are Barre Chords?"
A Guitar Chord Shape is a constant fingering that you maintain. When you move this fingering up and down the fret board you will produce different chords.

This major chord shape is one of the most popular chord shapes that you will come across. A popular use of this fingering/chord shape is in playing jazz and reggae music. When you strum this chord shape and combine string mutes on the upstroke or down stroke, you produce a sense of percussion.
Note: This fingering is one of the more complicated fingerings out there. Probably the hardest part of getting this chord shape down is the first finger. The first finger you have to barre across the fret so that it sounds three notes. If you can't get all the notes to ring, move your finger down towards the low e and the farther you move it, the better the notes should sound.

This fingering is a bit easier than the others. When you first start practicing this chord shape, just remember to push your ring finger down as hard as possible to strengthen it. With enough practice, you'll get this one down easily.
