I was browsing through all the websites, Youtube guitar lessons, tutorial and other guitar references that the internet has to offer an most references make basic guitar chords out to be way harder than what they actually are.

Most references talk about chord construction, not names, etc. right off the bat

Sure that info is great to know along the way but I’d say 90% of people only care about knowing what the chord looks like and how to develop a sense of “what fingers go where”.

So here’s my answer:

I’ve put together a number of quick (under 5 min) guitar lessons on my Youtube account. Check them out if you’ve ever had any questions about the most basic but most common chords out there.

What This Guitar Lesson Will Help You With

This video will give you some great ideas and allow you to add some new variety to your blues soloing. It’s pretty basic but a very good start. It will definitely take you more than 30 minutes to learn every lick and note in the video but you will definitely improve your improvisation with blues arpeggios and finding what notes to go to with chord changes.

How I Would Practice This Guitar Lesson

First get two programs that every guitarist MUST have on their computer. One is called Transcribe. Transcribe allows you to take an audio track and slow it down so that you can hear all the notes played. Transcribe is perfect for slowing down this video and then learning each lick individually.

The second program or website allow you to covert this video into an mp3 file so that you can open it in Transcribe. Go to “listentoyoutube.com” and then paste the URL or web address of the video into the bar and then download the video as an mp3 file.
